"I didn’t just learn about crisis from a textbook; I’ve lived it alongside my patients and my family. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon my career was forged in pediatric and adult critical care. In those high-stakes environments, I fell in love with the art form of medication selection—balancing the precision of pharmacology with the immediate needs of the human spirit. Today, that critical care background ensures that safety and the complex interplay between the human body and mental health are always top of mind.
My move into Psychiatric Mental Health was a calling shaped by my life outside the hospital as foster now adoptive parent, a husband, and a gay man. I understand firsthand the complexities of trauma, identity, and the delicate way our bodies hold the stress of our modern world. Whether in an inpatient unit or an outpatient clinic, my goal is to provide a space where you are seen and safe, not just diagnosed.
To stay grounded, I am a lifelong student who finds balance through jogging, strength training, work in my garden, and restoring my 100-year-old home. I cherish time with my husband and son, whether we are playing soccer or exploring our great state in our camper—from the Central Oregon high desert and the Cascades to storm-watching on the coast. I look forward to helping you navigate your path toward wellness with care that is local, lived-in, and deeply empathetic."

I bring a unique, comprehensive perspective to psychiatric care, built upon a diverse and rigorous clinical foundation. Prior to specializing in psychiatry, I spent over a decade working in Adult & Pediatric Critical Care helping patients and families naviate the challenges of acute and chronic illness. This foundation is augmented by dedicated clinical time in Emergency Medicine.
My advanced psychiatric training includes, outpatient behavioral psychiatry & intensive clinical experiences within high-acuity inpatient psychiatry and psychiatric emergency services at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health. There, I specialized in:
Crisis stabilization
Rapid psychiatric evaluation
Management of severe, acute presentations
The Intersection of Health & Wellness: This dual background in intensive physical medicine and acute psychiatry provides me with a highly sophisticated understanding of the intricate intersection between complex physical health and psychiatric wellness.
In addition to my private practice, I also see patients at my colleagues practice at +Psychiatry.
My diverse background has helped shape my clinical approach, allowing me to provide a very unique, trauma-informed care tailored to diverse populations.
My primary areas of clinical focus include:
Complex Mood & Trauma: Supporting individuals navigating the complexities of severe stress, profound trauma histories, depression, and anxiety.
Neurodivergent Care: Support tailored for individuals with ADHD and Autism Spectrum conditions.
Affirming Care: Dedicated, culturally competent care for LGBTQIA+ populations and minority groups.
An essential part of providing high-quality, ethical clinical care is understanding the limitations of an outpatient psychiatric setting and recognizing when a patient's needs require a higher or more specialized level of care.
To ensure absolute patient safety and clinical efficacy, I maintain clear professional boundaries regarding my scope of practice. For individuals requiring the following specialized services, I actively facilitate a referral out to dedicated programs and trusted specialists who possess the exact resources necessary for these conditions:
